Edit
They didn't help my SD at all. Prior to my diagnosis I was straining so hard to speak towards the end that my throat was always sore and I was popping throat lozenges like pez and spraying often with throat numbing sprays. The most it did was make me nauseous and numb my tongue a bit, which didn't help my speech any.

I would encourage you to try Botox again. I was diagnosed right before I started a presentations class, the last class I needed for my bachelor's degree. My first injection was not good and left me with a very weak and breathy voice and a terrible time with choking while drinking any liquids. I went in again three or four weeks later and had an additional injection that worked much better than the first.

I've only had a diagnosis for about 1 1/2 years, so I've only had a handful of injections, but none have been as bad as the first. There's been varying degrees of success, but the first was absolutely the worst one. It can take the doctor a bit of trial and error to discover the dosage you respond best to.
