Edit
Everyone reacts differently to the shots. Difficulty swallowing liquids (cannot gulp) and coughing are not abnormal. Feeling like you are about to get the flu is not abnormal either. It's your body reacting to something abnormal and is fighting it. Some people are not phased by the Botox at all. Your doctor should be able to tell if you have AD or AB. Some people have a little of both, but there is a distinct difference in the two. Your voice may become whispery anywhere from a day or two, to weeks - depending on the dosage and your reaction. Botox is not a perfect science. I was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago with symptoms for about 2 years. We are still experimenting with the dosages and are now injecting into both sets of cords (false and true). I would keep a daily journal of your reactions and then you have something to report back to your doctor for adjustment of the dosage and possible placement. However, I would possibly get a second opinion when your voice returns and the Botox has worn off as to which type you have because that does affect where the Botox is placed. Good luck on your journey and hang it there. It does get better.
