Edit
Ugh. This is one of those times i want to curl up and die. I've had this POS disease since I was an otherwise healthy, gregarious, unencumbered 23 year old college student. It was misdiagnosed for a year and I finally got an ENT to inject me, and VOILA...it worked miracles. I could always count on the botox for every shot.

I did notice some side effects, like breathiness, but after sometime, my doctor was able to calibrate the perfect amount of botox and it worked so well every time, asymptomatically.

I got a shot in a new town, by a doc who does this procedure very rarely, and was not at all pleased with the results. I used to be hoarse the day after the shot, which was so comforting because I knew the shot 'took', and I had my voice. I call it 'having vocal traction' like a studded boot in the ice...you can just feel when your voice will be strong and clear, and I haven't had the hoarseness for some years, but it still worked.

So the last two shots didn't work, and it's frankly terrifying. I should go down to my specialist in Detroit who injects patients every week and is I believe, was one of the docs who pioneered the treatment.

QUESTION: has anyone become immune to botox? How do you know? Can they test for anti-bodies? I am so fearful, and having tasted normal voice for so long, I can't fathom going back to that silent hell.
