Edit
Hi, Amy,

Then it really depends on your preference. If the placement was supposedly good, then I could see with going with 3. Once you get an effective injection (side effects or not), you'll have to see how long it lasts in order to determine a good balance. Some people want no side effects, but then need to get more frequent injections (every 2 months or so), while others can tolerate a quieter voice for 1-3 weeks and stretch their injections out to 3-4 months.

There can definitely be predictability to your injections once you get a system down but you're right at the start of your treatment so it can take a few injections to figure that out.

It's good your bosses are understanding. Even with a quiet voice, it's sometimes still easy enough to talk on the phone. The more difficult tasks with a breathy voice would be working where there is background noise, talking outside, talking in restaurants, etc.

It's well worth it once you figure out a system if you have a good doc. and a straightforward case of AD/SD. You can aim for a system where it's almost like not having a voice disorder at all and let me tell you, there's nothing like it! You can pretty much put SD out of your mind. But you'll only get there if you try.

Let us know how it goes with 2.5 or 3. Honestly, between those two doses, there's not that much of a difference so I wouldn't fret too much on deciding between the two! If you get no results out of 2.5 for whatever crazy reason, then you might have to think about going up to 5, etc. Or, at least, I would. Some people are very sensitive to Botox, others are not. And, strangely, level of sensitivity is not usually related to the severity of your SD, your age, height, weight, etc.

Good luck,
Laurie
