Edit
I was a sp. ed. teacher for 25 years. The first 12 years I didn't use botox and the second 13 years I used botox off and on, scheduling my shots before school started, at Christmas and at Easter to get the most benefit.

My first school district was wonderful.....very accepting. Students are always so accepting, but at my second school district they did not like my voice at all even though they hired me with it. The students, teachers and the parents were fine with it, but the administration was horrible.

I cannot tell you how important it is to be tenured. If you're not, at least get to that point so you have protection from any potential problems in the future. My union lawyer protected me and the district backed down. I finally got the SLAD-R surgery for my sake more than anything. Now I'm retired, have a voice, and am happy.
