I just got a letter from my HMO approving an appointment to see Dr. Berke for consultation and evaluation but not surgery.....yet.
I spoke with a representative from my HMO to see if I could be pre-approved for the surgery prior to my flying from north Florida to LA, but was not given any assurance, though they did say that it will likely be approved as long as it is not considered to be experimental surgery. I am hoping that Dr. Berke's staff can provide what ever they may need before my appointment to facilitate the surgery if approved by Dr. Berke. It just would make no sense to approve a visit without also approving surgery if that is Dr. Berke's recommendation. I am hopeful that all this will work together for the beginning of a new voice.
I hope that you can prevail with your fight for insurance approval.
