I am a teacher, and I have ADSD. I use a voice amplifier. There are studies that show that children actually learn better with an amplified voice. Teaching with SD is hard work, but there are also many benefits. My students are good listeners. I don't need to raise my voice, they just listen better. Honestly, I have a very quiet classroom and the students are quite content and learn well. My students have learned about compassion, understanding differences, and the blessings of helping another person. They see that some obstacles can be overcome. I have learned a lot too. I have learned to use other teaching methods to accomplish the learning objectives. I have learned how to accept help. I have learned that I don't have to present a perfect image. I don't have to be embarrassed by the sound the of my voice. For me, teaching is still a possibility. I know there are others who have not been as fortunate.Carol
