Edit
Hi there..I have had ADSD for 8 years now & to explain it very simply would be to say that my vocal chords spasm & close very tight causing me to have a strained, strangled voice..I'm looking into having Thyroplasty2 surgery here in Australia (SLADR Surgery is not an option here)..Thyroplasty1 surgery is for people who have ABSD & that is where the vocal chords open too much causing a person to have a very soft breathy voice..ABSD is the more rarer form of SD & I believe it may also be harder to treat..I have botox treatment & am pretty happy with the results..Some people may also have a mixture of both..Do you have a strained, strangled voice & notice that often certain words just don't come out, if so, you probably have ADSD, which can be treated first up with botox..After a while some people start looking into other options such as SLADR Surgery or Thyroplasty..Hang in there, although it is frustrating & we all get down about it at times, life does go on & we SD sufferers can live a very productive life if we choose to..I was watching Oprah yesterday & saw a lady who had just had a baby & she had to have her arms & legs removed due to an infection..I thought "WOW" what do I have to complain about really..I can live & happy life even if I do have this weird disorder called Spasmodic Dysphonia..All the best..Jenni Marsh ADSD 8yrs/44 Australia
