I have ABSD and have had the injections on and off for maybe 3 years. In 2007 I had botox injected directly into the vocal chord during an inpatient procedure. My voice sounded great for about three days and then I went hoarse for what seemed to be 4 weeks. I had to yell just to be heard which makes it difficult when you interact with customers. Recently, I had an injection and was warned I may have issues with swallowing. It's been 10 days and I still have issues swallowing and must keep a constant supply of liquid nearby when eating most any type of food. Breads tend to be the most difficult to swallow in one try. I've gagged on food to a point of nearly inhaling the food and ultimately choking to who knows what. Quite frustrating and alarming as you can imagine. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how long I should expect the swallowing issue to last? I've tried calling my doctor's office, but I do not care to wait on hold as long as I have. The SD BB has been extremely informative and inspiring so I'm hoping a fellow blogger might be able to provide some insight. Thanks.
