Edit
A few suggestions are to call your insurance company yourself and explain the entire situation - including your history of treatment for SD with Botox which should enable them to expedite authorization. This is not a new diagnosis or a novel treatment. It is the standard of care.

Ask them what further information they need and ask to speak to a supervisor so that you can have it approved immediately and reschedule your appointment ASAP.

Sometimes you have to become a huge PIA in order to get proper care. Don't just sit around and wait for your MD's office and Kaiser to sort it out themselves.

Just make a million phone calls yourself. Ask what the hold up is and explain how your job is dependent on your voice and it is essential your treatment resume immediately.

Don't accept a run-around answer about paperwork not being filled out correctly. Ask them to look up your history of treatment and approve this today. Explain to whoever you speak with at your insurance how you were referred to a new MD, etc. etc.

It might seem intimidating but I'd just keep at it. If you don't get the answer you want from the first person you call at Kaiser, just pick up the phone, dial your insurance company again and explain the same exact situation to the next person who may be more helpful.

Ask them if the need a letter of medical necessity, the correct diagnosis and procedure codes, or what. Bottom line is it sounds like you've been treated for years so this shouldn't be a drawn out process.

Just make a PIA of yourself (moreso with your insurance company than with the doctor's office) - but you could call your doctor's office as well and see where they are at with things.

Good luck,
Laurie
