I can relate. I had 3 surgeries. They cleaned out my sinuses, removed a vocal chord "polyp" and stiched up my esophagus. The last surgery was recommended by an ENT where, when I first visited with him I told him I though I had SD based on searching the web. He said "Not a chance". It is my opinion that most ENTs/ doctors are still in the dark. I live in Atlanta where there is no shortage of medical professionals and facilities. This should not have happened.
I'm staying with the Botox although my 1st injection of 2.5 per chord left me without a voice for 2 months. Same effect with 1.0 per chord. I just received .33 in one chord and have a little bit of a voice a week later. Guess I am super-sensitive to Botox.
I don't have a lot of hope that there will be any better treatment in my lifetime.
