Part of the problem I think was the first dr misdiagnosed me. I saw 2 others after him, but I had already had Radiesse injected into my vocal cords which distorted the natural sound of my voice. My dr at Mayo couldn't tell for sure until he removed all the substance from my throat and vocal cords last fall and heard me 2 weeks ago after it had healed. My husband and I both have AD. When I first started with symptoms they were very mild, really just a hoarseness so we didn't suspect it all then. It's just been since I had the surgery mentioned above that I had the full shortness of breath, not able to say numbers, etc. And yes, we had remarked that our symptoms were alike since that started happening but thought the doctors knew what they were doing!
We're not sure where we inherited ours from. The only voice disorder in his family is a sister who stutters and as far as me - I had a cousin who probably had this. She passed away last year and never knew what was wrong with her voice but sounded just like me.
