I have had SD since I was 18 and I didnt know what it was. I thought it was allergies or something or nerves. My ENT said my vocal chords looked fine.
Than I started speech therapy that helped alot. I went of to college and taught pre-k and got married. I had two children. Now I am 44. I just started botox this past year. I am teaching special education. The botox is working out great. I did have to find the right dose and we are still tweaking it. So far, lots of side effects. My last shot was in November 07. I had 8 weeks of hoarsness, and breathiness for three weeks. I still have a strong voice, but I am noticing minor spasms at this time. It has been 6 months! wow! So, its definetly worth it for me. Life is good. I can deal with it largley because of the great people I met on this board. I use to be so emotional about SD. Now, its better since botox. I have learned alot. Good Luck, you can do it............be strong. best of luck |
