Dr. Berke at UCLA did my surgery. They said there was a minor chance of bad reinnervation occuring where the old nerves tried to grow back. I had a really good year and a half or so after the surgery. If you have not tried botox I would definitely suggest trying it first as the surgery is extreme. You will have a large scar and will have trouble drinking liquids for a few weeks. The reason I opted to have the surgery was botox completely knocks out my voice and makes me sound like mini mouse. For a 6'5" guy that is quite embarassing :-)
Moving forward I am trying to find a time to see Dr. Berke again as he has suggested another procedure involving the TA muscle. When I hear more about it I will let you know.
