Hello,I believe I am one of the youngest people ever to develop SD. I have struggled with it for as long as I can remember. I was finally diagnosed with SD when I was 15 after the psychiatrist, speech therapist, hypnotist gauntlet didn't work. I was also lucky enough to be one of the most sensitive people to Botox. With the initial dose I lost my voice for almost 3 months. After repeated failures with botox I tried the SLAD surgery. I was told I would have a 4 inch scar. It turned out to be about 10 inches and I looked like I had my head cut off :-) but I didn't care. It worked very well for about a year and a half, then started to slowly come back. I had the surgery at 19 and I am now 24. The spasms and strangulation I feel is the worst it has ever been. It is nice to see this bulletin board as I just discovered it. Sometimes I feel like the only one out there with this disorder and it is very frustrating. It is good to be able to share stories with people who know what I am going though...
