I too have ABSD. I have had Botox twice and both times I had problems swallowing for about a week after the injection. Water and other thinner liquids were the worst but I also had problems with food if I either ate too quickly or too large of bites. The problem did go away after about a week or so. In addition to the problem swallowing, I also had breathing issues when doing any kind of exercise. I felt like I was simply not getting enough air into my lungs and ended up gasping. This was very troubling because, while not the most physically fit person, I had always been able to walk long distances with no trouble. This symptom also went away in a week or so. While both of these things were annoying, I considered it worth it to get the improvement I got from the Botox shot. Hang in there - it will get better! Just be careful when eating and, it does help to turn your head when swallowing. TMK
