Edit
Hello,
I just had my first injection on the 3rd March. I was nervous about the side effects too. It has now been 2 weeks and so far I have had 1 week with only being able to whisper (with only slight swallowing problems), and now I can speak almost OK in the morning but by lunch time I can hardly speak. The worst for me was the few days of helium voice- hard to pass off as being laryngitis! My voice is not as high but still terrible. I am finding the side effects hard to deal with- worse than before the injection. Especially as I work in sales and couldn't get annual leave. We are short staffed and I have had to serve customers and answer the phone sounding this way! Very stressful (although it was before too!) I am feeling a little disheartened but hopefully it will improve and be better than ever! I had 2 units bilaterally. My doctor usually starts you on 2.5 but I asked for a lower dose as I was nervous about the side effects. The funny thing is before the injection I worked so hard at hiding my problem, but once I lost my voice I ended up being honest about it to people! I figured my workmates needed to know as it is not a one off thing and they would get suspicous of me having laryngitis 3-4 times a year! They told me they assumed I was always nervous, but have been really understanding! Don't worry you are not alone! It is all trial and error and hopefully we will work out the 'perfect' dose!
Good luck!
